Elzhi’s “Memory Lane” f. Eminem, Royce da 5’9, Proof, JDilla, Baatin
With “Memory Lane,” the latest video from his acclaimed Elmatic project, Elzhi brings to life his deep history within the legendary Detroit hip-hop scene. The visuals for “Memory Lane” bring Elzhi’s audience back in time to the mid-nineties, and into Maurice Malone’s Hip Hop Shop. The Shop was the heart of the Detroit hip hop scene where many collaborated, battled and shared music. It was there that a young Elzhi first grabbed the microphone to prove that he had the ability to become one of the greatest rappers alive. Music executive and artist manager Jae Barber, also a Detroit native, provided an authentic picture with rare visuals of the world Elzhi revisits in his nostalgic spin on Nas’ classic song, “Memory Lane.”
The video includes various artists such as Eminem and Royce da 5’9. Amongst the many artists included are the late Baatin, Proof and J Dilla. Many listeners have called Elmatic one of the year’s best album releases although it was introduced as a mixtape due to its popular demand worldwide. Inspired by its enthusiastic reception, Elzhi is proud to make his labor of love now available on iTunes and many other digital outlets, to satisfy the people’s demand for real hip hop. Special thanks to Jahki, Dj Dez, Dj Butter
