TBT It’s more fun in the philippines w/apl.de.ap, CASSIE, jo koy, liane v, & more (may 2016)

Roslynn said in the Asian American Collective feature, “

“I worked in the mainstream music industry for 20+ years and grew up in hip hop/R&B. I was an underground hip hop DJ for a show called “Third Floor Radio” and produced events/concerts under that moniker. After working for a record industry networking organization as the Director of Marketing, I met the co-creators of MySpace.com before they officially launched globally, I took on the role as the first person in artists relations, not knowing it would later become the #1 website in the world and a force in the music industry worldwide. After nearly a decade there, I launched my own company and sold it, giving me some time to travel for a few weeks without working.

I went to the Philippines for the first time with a group of creatives like APL/WIll.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas, Jo Koy, Cassie, Liane V & executives from Google, YouTube, Netflix, etc. It was great to see how beautiful the islands were, but traveling through the country we also saw the effects of extreme poverty.

After I got back from that trip, I dedicated myself to helping Filipino talent/creatives in any way I could, focusing on independently helping develop their careers. My days are spent doing what I can to help us progressively move forward whether it’s helping strategize & market the MYX Global Platform & TV network, to helping FIlipino artists succeed on Global radio platforms, through production and pushing our culture forward. It’s an uphill battle some days, but I try to remember the long term goals and keep my eyes on the prize. I urge other Asian American professionals to travel to their home country post-pandemic if they haven’t already to find your identity,, or lend additional support/opportunities to Asian artists or creatives.

Artists/talent usually shy away from outwardly promoting their ethnicity in fear that it’s not cool, but I’d love to help make representation cool for them!”

Drake’s first online video interview at age 22, Roslynn predicted a Lebron James like career for the rookie back in 2009 in this MySpace Music interview 12 years ago. Congrats @BBMAS #ArtistOfTheDecade @champagnepapi, many free mixtapes on @myspace, 9 #1 albums & several sold out tours later, well deserved…
